BA (Hons), MSMA, BTEC Dip Level 5
Kimberley Shone is a Sports and Remedial Massage Therapist with a BTEC Level 5 Diploma in Sports Massage from the highly established North London School of Sports Massage (NLSSM), and is registered with the Sports Massage Association.
Having competed in horse riding between the ages of 5years and 18years, Kimberley competed in all Riding Club disciplines at National level from a young age until she decided to specialise in dressage where she competed for the North West BYRDS (British Young Riders Dressage Society). Competitions were both team and individual based and involved Sports Psychology training with Dr Moira Lafferty which has proven vital both on the horse and in everyday life. Kimberley had to change her career aspirations of competing Internationally following a neck injury and gained a BA Hons in Law. However, upon realising she was given poor rehabilitation for her neck because the true cause was not considered, she became interested in anatomy and physiology, gained her Level 5 BTEC Diploma in Sports and Remedial Massage and is on a mission to ensure what happened to her, does not happen to anyone else.
Overall, Kimberley's experience in sport, life and education has proven extremely useful in her career as a Sports Massage Therapist. Riding at advanced level dressage has given her an extremely sensitive touch whilst the training in sports psychology has given her an understanding into mental challenges and how to overcome them. Education and work experience in law developed her brain to consider many avenues, what they involve and their outcomes in a subjective and objective manner and thus, a treatment plan specific to that client can be developed. Consequently, Kimberley has received consistently good feedback and aims to continue this success throughout her career.
